Exploit Their Mistakes

Bad poker players generally make the same mistakes over and over again.  Pay attention to what these mistakes are, as they are pivital in your winning poker strategy.

You don’t have to be the best…

In poker, a lot of the times you are going to find yourself in the position where you are not the best poker player at the table.  THIS IS OK!  You dont have to be the best poker player at the table to be a winning poker player.

The key is, determining who you are better than, and getting yourself involved in pots with those players.

Phil Gordon’s Little Green Book

I am going to spend the next group of posts, talking about Phil Gordon and his Little Green Book, which I believe to be one of the greatest Beginner/Novice poker books available on the shelves.  Not only is it an easy read, but it gives poker players the basic tools to move forward in their poker game and learn how to be a Winning Poker Player.

“Winning poker is not about winning money.  Nor is it about reading tells or being the best bluffer.  It’s not about winning the most pots.  Winning poker is about making the correct decisions” – Phil Gordon

With that being said, you have made a great decision by visiting Online Poker Secrets, as we are here to provide you with the best possibile Poker Secrets we can, and hopefully they will help in improving your game.

Tighten Up!

“The biggest mistake weak players make is playing too many hands” – Avery Cardoza, How to Play Winning Poker

At a Full Table Ring Game, on average there are 1 to 2 great hands being dealt per round.  If you were to play every hand, this would mean that 8/10 times,  you are going to be competing against the better deal.  You do not want to spend the majority of your poker game at a disadvantage – so tighten up your game!

10x Max Buy-In Rule (Moving Up Stakes)

If you already know the ins and outs of playing poker online, this online poker secret just might be what it takes for you to transition from a losing to a winning poker player.

No matter what stake you are playing, you should always have a minimum of 10x the Max Buy-in in your bankroll.  DO NOT MOVE UP STAKES, UNTIL YOU HAVE ATLEAST 10X MAX BUY-IN TO THE NEXT LEVEL!!!

Having an appropriate bankroll to play a certain level of poker is just as important as understanding how to play the game!  I keep a general rule to myself that if I am going to move up stakes, I must have atleast 15x the max buy-in for the game – this way, i have 5x buy-ins to play with and keep myself at the stake I am playing, without moving back down.
