Concentrate on how you are playing, not how much you are winning. In online poker, the swings are there – this is inevitable. What you need to pay most attention to is if you are playing the game well or not. If you are playing well, then you will overcome the swings – but if you are only concentrating on how much money you are making – your mental state will always be affected by this.

Pride means the end of wisdom – Japanese Proverb
One of the best online poker secrets I could give is: DO NOT let your ego ruin your game!
Overconfidence is one of the biggest errors in Online Poker. Humility will help you through the long haul of the game. Just as lightening will strike more than once, you will go through the swings of poker, which means you will go through winning hands and sessions. Ego will not help you through these situations and will only assist in you losing more than you need to.

This will probably be one of the most important online poker secrets that I could give to you. This is for New Cash Game players – either transitioning from Online Poker Tournaments OR from Live Cash Games.
If you are going to be playing any No Limit or Pot Limit cash games (no matter what the game of poker is you are playing), you should have a minimum of 20x the max buy-in of the game in your bankroll. For example, if you are starting to play 0.50/1 NL HE, the max buy-in at the table is usually $100. Your bankroll should be at least $1,000.
You need to have a bankroll to sustain the swings, and if you choose to play a stake without the bankroll, you are putting yourself in a losing situation, no matter how good of a poker player you think you are!
