If you are going to play a cash game, buy into a table with the maximum, not the minimum or any random number. If you sit down at a texas holdem poker table (say 1/2 NL) with $40 instead of the maximum $200 – you are automatically going to be tagged as a fish by your opponents. This may be what you want (so you get action) but the reality is, there are more efficient ways of tagging yourself as a fish! If you want to get the maximum out of the table limit you are playing, then you have to have the maximum amount of money at the poker table!

When playing poker, it is important to know who you can take advantage of and who you cant. The reality is (even though you may not want to admit it), there will be instances where there are players at the poker table that are better than you!

Its important to focus on outplaying the players you know will give you respect, or the players that are fishy at the table. Dont get too involved with the players that have the ability to take advantage of you, as this wont be a profitable circumstance.

While the luxury of cash game poker is that you can make a questionable call, or an instincts call, and if you get stacked, you can reload; you dont want to take advantage of this perk.

One of the best online poker secrets I can give you is, if you have lost 2 full buy-ins in one session, leave that table! Sure, you have lost 2 buy-ins and that completely sucks; but by this time, either the cards are just not running well for you, you cant beat the fish, or you are going to go on tilt!

Either take a break, or find a poker table with a different dynamic so that you can take advantage and win the money back without letting emotions get to you.

The biggest mistake made in Omaha High Low poker is, players want to play more hands than necessary. The temptation of having 4 cards to choose from can always entice a poker player to just play more, when in all reality – more means less here! If you are starting out playing Omaha High Low, keep this simple rule for yourself. PLAY ONLY A2, A3, 23 and hands with 99 or better. You should be playing between 12 and 16% of your hands here. This will help you in maintaining a tight image at the poker table, along with ensuring you are not chasing hands that are not the best option for you to chase!
