Once when I was in Tunica, Mississippi, a vetran Omaha High Low player gave me a peice of advice to open up my game. We were discussing how the importance of being tight can actually affect your game as you may play too tight.

I have used this secret for my online game, and I can easily say that this was the most profitable online poker secret I have ever used for Omaha high low. Please note: This is not a secret to be used by players just starting in the game. Use my original A2, A3, 23 strategy first, and then use this to bring depth.

Before you sit down at a table, Pick a suit (spades, clubs, diamonds or hearts). Choose that suit, and then every time you receive a hand containing 2 cards of that suit, then you play it! This will give you the ability to open up your range of cards with having a strategy aligned to it. Always keep in mind that playing tight/aggressive is important – however; opening up your range will allow you to build your game stronger and participate in different scenerios.

In online poker, if you are always expecting the best possible income, then you will frequently be disappointed. Prepare yourself for the worst. Dont think that just because you got dealt Pocket Aces that you will be making a profit from them. Dont believe that your flopped straight is always going to hold. Dont think that your turned set is golden.

If you keep your mind open to all of the possibilities in poker, you have the ability to make decisions based on actions and not based on cards.

There are many reasons for betting…You can bet to see where you are in the hand, bet for value or bet to bluff someone out of a hand.

With all the intricate ins and outs of how people play Texas Holdem Poker you are not always going to be right. Like I was always told when I was growing up: that is why there are backs on the cards!

The key in this game of incomplete information is to use your tools (chips) to make the best decision as possible to maximize your profits. The decision in the end may have you folding, even if you have raised to see where you are. You have to just remember that you need to follow your plays and trust what you think your information is telling you.

Don’t change the way you are playing poker just because you are losing. The reality in online poker (and live too) is sometimes your good cards just dont hold up, or you just dont get the cards you want. If you feel you are playing good poker and are winning consistently you may have a bad day or two or 10 even! Don’t let these losing days change the way you play or make you start to question the way you are playing.

To ride the rush you have to weather the storm too!

A great online poker secret to remember is: You have to be ready to slow down when your run is ending or you will quickly lose what you just won!

When the cards slow down in your poker game, ask yourself “am I playing poorly” or “why am I losing” or “is it time to leave yet”. Look at what hands you are starting to play, it seems like when we all win a couple of hands its effortless and we start to play marginal hands.
