Common Sense

Here is an online poker secret that almost seems stupid that I am bringing up; however, with all the tricks and challenges in poker, we tend to forget the easiest concepts – so I am here to remind you:

If you have the best hand – Bet it.
If you think you have the best hand – Bet it!

If you think you are beat – FOLD IT!

If you intend to call…

BET!

Your best defence in poker, is to play the offence!  If you are intending to call, you might as well bet.  Put the decision on your opponents and keep them guessing!

Tighten Up!

“The biggest mistake weak players make is playing too many hands” – Avery Cardoza, How to Play Winning Poker

At a Full Table Ring Game, on average there are 1 to 2 great hands being dealt per round.  If you were to play every hand, this would mean that 8/10 times,  you are going to be competing against the better deal.  You do not want to spend the majority of your poker game at a disadvantage – so tighten up your game!

We should WANT to lose…

If playing badly!

I know most of you are thinking “no I dont” but, you should!  You need to learn from your mistakes.  If you steal from the local store and dont get caught, arent you most likely to do it again?  The same thing goes for online poker.  If you do not lose when you play badly, you will continue to do so!

Learn from your mistakes – this is how you will grow the most in the game of poker.

Chips not Cash

In online poker, its much easier to do this than it is in a live poker game, but you should definitely think this way in both circumstances.  Once you have chips in your hand, no longer view the chips as money.  They are just chips.  Clay chips that you can use as your force.  If you remove the idea of cash behind the chips – you will be able to focus more on playing the game then on winning money and then you will find yourself winning more money than you thought possible!
