If you’re gonna bet….

Dont give up at the end!  A big mistake that happens in poker, is that you realized by the time the river comes – you may not be good.  If you realize this, the biggest mistake you can make is Not betting (unless of course, you have absolute rubbish).  Make the final bet.  You may be surprised, and at the very least, you are putting the decision on your opponent instead of allowing them to do to you.

Just because you outplay….

A major issue with poker players is, once they outplay someone, they think that they can always outplay that poker player.  DO NOT FALL INTO THIS BELIEF!!!!

If you strongly outplay someone, be very conscious of what might happen in the future.  They may play tighter the next time and you need to be prepared to react accordingly.

Keep your bets the same

When playing online poker, especially texas holdem, today’s game consists of a lot of students of the game.  Players are no longer weak in the majority – so they are paying attention to how you play.  A common peice of advice is to change up your bets often to keep your hand concealed.  With the hundreds of hands you will be playing in a session, I believe that it is really hard to keep track of every hand you play and ensure that you are changing up your bets enough to keep them concealed.

Instead of following this change structure in Online Poker, do the opposite and keep all of your bets the same.  If you are raising preflop, choose how much you want to raise (3x BB is my favourite) and continue to do that throughout your whole session, whether your hand is AA or 56 suited.  If you are reraising preflop, reraise again the same amount every time (2x the original raise is what I suggest) whether you are doing so with AK or 22.

Dont give your opponents the opportunity to find a glitch in your poker game.

Be a cannon!

This is easily my most favourite Online Poker Secret that I have gotten out of The Tao of Poker!

“See the rasier as a cannon firing alongside yours”

Do not allow a raiser to intimidate you at the poker table.  Try to look at the raiser as if he is your friend, assisting you in isolating the field and putting fear into the other poker players.

Stop Calling!

You are never going to win in the long run if you are just calling.  Use your poker chips as a weapon!  Playing passive in poker is not going to give you the best value overall.  If you have a good hand, bet it…if you aren’t use to betting, BET MORE!
